Tassell Chiropractic Southern River

Tassell Chiropractic Southern River is a family-focused chiropractic clinic at 6/476 Southern River Road, Southern River. It was established in 2025 by Dr Leisa Tassell, who began practising chiropractic in 1998. Early in her career she worked alongside her father, Dr Laurence Tassell, a national past president of the Chiropractors' Association of Australia, before establishing Winthrop Chiropractic Care and, in 2009, Aubin Grove Chiropractic Care. The Southern River clinic has three private rooms, including one set up specifically for paediatric appointments.

Dr Leisa studied chiropractic at RMIT in Melbourne and is a member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association and the Chiropractors' Association of Australia. Her particular interests are paediatrics, women's health and family wellbeing, and she has also cared for patients in India, Nepal and Thailand. She is joined by Dr Abby Clarke, a Murdoch University graduate who completed a Bachelor of Science (Chiropractic) and a Bachelor of Chiropractic in 2023. Dr Abby's approach combines gentle spinal adjustments with soft tissue therapy and rehabilitation strategies, and she has a strong interest in preventative care. Both chiropractors are registered with AHPRA and trained in the Webster Technique, which is used in pregnancy care.

The practice sees patients from newborns to seniors, including office workers and tradies, with back pain, neck pain and headaches among the common reasons people visit, alongside pregnancy and children's care. A first visit includes a detailed history and examination, and where X-rays are recommended they are arranged through external imaging centres. As a community initiative, the clinic offers free spinal checks for school-aged children.

Fees are published on the clinic's website: an initial consultation is $120, a standard consultation $71, a concession consultation $66 and a child consultation $61. The team describes the clinic as a relaxed, family-friendly space where there is no need to dress up or prepare, whether patients are coming in after work or bringing the kids along.
