Dr Lieschke works with people presenting with back and neck pain, chronic headaches and sports-related complaints, and adapts his method to the person in front of him rather than the reverse — a hands-on adjustment for some, an activator instrument or slow, sustained pressure for others. With infants and young children the practice uses light fingertip pressure of the kind you could tolerate over a closed eyelid.

Care is structured in stages. It begins with an initial consultation and an orthopaedic and neurological examination, followed by a report of findings explained in plain language before any treatment starts. No GP referral is needed to make an appointment. The practice sees Department of Veterans' Affairs patients, accepts workers' compensation and motor vehicle claims, participates in the Medicare Enhanced Primary Care program, and processes private health fund claims. The atmosphere is deliberately unpretentious. Staff make a point of using patients' names and explaining things without medical jargon, and Dr Lieschke also gives health presentations to local community groups.
