Context MSK

Context MSK is a chiropractic and musculoskeletal practice in Waratah, in Newcastle's inner suburbs, operating from a space at the rear of The Movement Collective on Crescent Road. The practice was founded by Alexander Curtis, whose own experience of injury and recovery shaped an approach built around longer consultations and patient education rather than short, repeat-visit appointments. Sessions combine hands-on chiropractic care with rehabilitation and strength work delivered by the same practitioner, so patients dealing with pain and patients working towards a performance goal are managed in one place.

Alexander Curtis holds a Bachelor of Chiropractic Science and Master of Chiropractic from Macquarie University and is registered with AHPRA. Alongside his chiropractic qualification he has ten years' experience as an ASCA-certified Strength & Conditioning Coach, and he is a former member of the Australian Army. That dual background shapes the clinical focus of the practice, which centres on back and neck pain, shoulder and knee complaints, and sports injuries drawn from running, rowing, martial arts, weightlifting, tennis and similar pursuits. Manual therapy and joint mobilisation are paired with individually prescribed exercise programs.

Appointments follow a consistent structure: the initial visit runs 60 minutes and covers a full history, movement assessment, treatment and a personalised exercise program to take home, with follow-ups typically 30 to 45 minutes. The initial appointment is $170 and a standard follow-up is $120. A HICAPS terminal is on site so private health fund rebates can be claimed on the spot, DVA white and gold card holders are accepted, and GP Chronic Disease Management plans are accepted with a $25 gap fee. The practice serves weekend warriors, competitive athletes and active adults across Newcastle, along with veterans and people returning to training after injury or surgery, with an emphasis on giving patients the knowledge and tools to manage their own musculoskeletal health.
